Lord Ganesh, who is wearing white attire, who is all pervading, who is bright in appearance like moon and who has four arms, One should meditate upon Him who has a compassionate and gracious face, to remove all obstacles from the path of one's spiritual pursuit.
The first semantic level मंगलाचरण happens with the invocation to Sri Ganesha. This invocation not only qualifies as मंगलाचरण for the main page entry but also as the मंगलाचरण for the entire journey. The story underneath serves as मंगलाचरण for all that comes after. So there is मंगलाचरण within मंगलाचरण.


Please note the invocation of Sri Vishnu in the energy of [[नारायण| नारायण (Narayana)]]. The story is meant to serve as providing the objective of the text that is to come - to see what is, to understand the nature of illusions and differentiate between eternal and temporary. This is the quality of [[विवेक| विवेक (Viveka)]] and said to be the first quality needed to be developed for the one walking the path to liberation.

The ''mangalacharan'' is taken from Devikālottara, expounded by Lord Siva into the ears of Goddess Isvari, that teaches self-inquiry as a means to liberation. This is an invocation to the energy that assumes Lordship over all beings, provides strong and auspicious foundation for creative work, and removes hindrances from the path of devotee (one devoted to one's Self).
